Doug Walton

Member at Large
Many members of Northwest Sound show great dedication to the craft of barbershop, but Doug Walton takes things to the next level by crossing international borders every week to join all of his Seattle-land brothers in song, and he is energized by it. What draws someone down, despite a six hour total commute time? Doug recalls that he got goosebumps when he listened to Northwest Sound at district in October 2015 and he knew he needed to join and aim for the top. Fortunately for Doug and for Northwest Sound, his wife Tammy wholeheartedly supported his decision to join.

Doug has been a society member since 1992 and has been singing in many capacities in that time. He sings with the Gentlemen of Fortune in Vancouver, where he is an assistant bass section leader, and went to international competitions twice with them. He's also been a member of several quartets over the years, even placing fourth district-wide one year. This continues a three generation family legacy of barbershop, as Doug's father and grandfather were also society members for many years, even singing in the same group, all in British Columbia.

Outside of the world of song, Doug owns a freight brokering company and a landscaping business with his wife. He and his wife are also raising two sons: Braden and Nick. They are living in Maple Ridge, just outside Vancouver.
