Come for the music, stay for the brotherhood!

Another former Sing, Sing, Singer is Matt Astle, who participated in the program in the fall of 2011, having heard of the program through a Facebook posting. Matt says, “What I loved immediately was how people treated me. That first night I came home and my wife asked me how it went. I said, ‘Everyone was so warm!’ I came for the music (and don't get me wrong - I absolutely loved that the Director and the chorus talked about musical concepts I had only ever heard in my college music courses), but I stayed for the brotherhood!”  He auditioned soon after singing with the chorus in its 2011 Holiday shows and has become a key contributor to the chorus as an arranger as well as singing in the baritone section.  His arrangement of In Summer was a crowd favorite at our most recent holiday shows and he has collaborated with Kenny in arranging songs for the chorus’s upcoming International contest appearance.

Pictured are Matt Astle (right), SSS graduate and NWS chorus member since 2012, singing with his quartet Jump Start, (L to R) Ed Springgate tenor, Patrick Wendlick lead, and Isaac Banner bass, as they prepare for the Division II contest with a performance for the members of the chorus.
